A significant commercial real estate transaction has just closed at 1326 9th Avenue, a landmark corner property in the heart of the Inner Sunset.
Represented by Patrick Totah of Restaurant Realty Company on behalf of the seller, and Cameron Baird of Kidder Mathews representing the buyer, the sale transfers ownership of this historic two-story building to the team behind San Francisco institution MoMo’s. Their new concept, Maggie and Mac, will soon take over the space, continuing the building’s long-standing role as a gathering place in one of the city’s most beloved neighborhoods.
Located just two blocks from Golden Gate Park and steps from UCSF’s Parnassus campus, the intersection of 9th and Irving has long been a bustling, pedestrian-friendly corridor filled with neighborhood cafés, restaurants, and independent shops. The area draws a constant stream of locals, students, medical staff, and tourists, making it one of San Francisco’s most consistent and valuable hospitality districts. With a Walk Score of 99, proximity to cultural and outdoor attractions, and a deeply rooted community vibe, this corner has become one of the city’s most desirable retail and dining destinations.
The building at 1326 9th Avenue also holds a rich culinary past. Originally home to Golden Gate Brewery, the space later became Eldo’s Grill and Brewery, and most recently Social Kitchen & Brewery—a well-regarded brewpub that played a prominent role in San Francisco’s craft beer scene before closing in 2020. Steve Zimmerman previously sold both Eldo’s and Golden Gate Brewery, giving Restaurant Realty a long-standing history of shaping this iconic corner.
This transaction holds personal meaning for me. As a kid, I spent a lot of time in this neighborhood. My two aunts lived on the corner of 7th and Irving, and I’d walk around the area soaking up the energy, grabbing slices from Pasquale’s, and watching the street life unfold. My uncle owned a deli nearby, and this part of the city was a regular part of my childhood. Even with all the growth and new concepts, the Inner Sunset still feels like old San Francisco to me—a place where small businesses can thrive and the energy of the city feels grounded and real.
The new owners, already known for MoMo’s near Oracle Park, are expected to bring their polished, community-focused approach to the Inner Sunset. Maggie and Mac will offer an elevated yet approachable dining experience—one that honors the building’s past while embracing the future. With its strong identity, prime location, and loyal neighborhood base, this corner is poised to enter a new chapter that blends legacy with fresh vision.
This successful transaction reflects the continued strength of San Francisco’s neighborhood commercial real estate market and the enduring appeal of well-positioned restaurant spaces. As Maggie and Mac prepares to open its doors, 1326 9th Avenue is set to come alive once again—ready to serve the next generation of diners in a community that’s always been at the heart of the city.
